Barbie Reponse

Barbie is supposed to be like the idol or the way a "perfect" woman is supposed to look like and be like. I think the doll gives kids the wrong idea in what their supposed to look like and puts their self esteem down especially if they don't look like them, I come from an hispanic family and no one in my family would look like that maybe unless we intermarried, it kind of makes people loose their own identity by trying to be something they are not to be accepted in this society. is they are making dolls of different types not just a white doll with blonde hair and blue eyes but there is only one Barbie. Society gives out the wrong idea with these dolls because no one could ever look like barbie and this world is so supereficial that everyone tries to look like her. The barbie is just one perception of what thi s society thinks is aceeptable or pretty which is just bull...no one is perfect and have a freaking big Barbie mansion and a hot Ken...So people need to stop trying to be like Barbie...she doesn't exist at least the fact that she is not perfect. It reminds me of Toni Morrison's book about this girl that wanted to blue eyes so she could be seen as pretty, that is society's way of depicting what is beautiful Barbie is just another example of it... this also shows how the american culture is based solely on looks which may not be true but it does.

  1. I agree with you! Children who plays with Barbie when they are young look up to her and want to be like her when they become older. But the older they grow they realize they are less like Barbie and try to change their ways or start to hate themselves because of who they are and how society treats them. That is why I think alot of people started to like the BRATZ dolls because they had differnt races so the girls can relate to them much better.
